About Alex
Alex Paton (b.1991) is a musician and composer based in Paris. On hearing the 'Imperial March' in the Star Wars films at the age of seven, Alex was inspired to learn how to play an instrument. He now composes for a variety of cross media genres including film, theatre and dance. Recent collaborations have included scoring for a multitude of projects including award winning shows, those of which include English National Ballet, (UK) Alvin Ailey (USA), This Egg, (UK) Adverto films (UK), Ephemeral Ensemble, (UK) Fools Cap/Vinicius Carvalho (FR), ELELEI (ES), and many more. He works internationally as a composer, and tours as a musician for performances.

“My name is Matthew Rushing and I am the Rehearsal Director as well as Guest Artist for The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. I have choreographed 3 ballets for the Ailey company during my 25 years with the organization, and have also had the opportunity to choreograph ballets for Yale Dance Theater and other regional dance companies in the United States. I recently have had the pleasure of working with Alex Paton as an accompanist as well as a composer for a score for one of my most recent ballets TRIBUTE. Alex has an incredible gift of making one's ideas into a sonic reality. His expertise and versatility in the composition of music allows a choreographer unlimited access to musical ideas.
